"We’ll surely take actions against the culprits to curb rumours against the country and its people," he said while speaking at a coordination meeting at the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) on dengue and other contemporary issues.
Chaired by PMO Secretary Md Sajjadul Hassan, the meeting spelled out their overall preparations and measures already taken to prevent the dengue menace and rumours, and ensure traffic management during Eid vacation.
HT Imam said all have to remain aware to foil any evil attempt by the vested quarter against the country and its people.
He also mentioned that the present government has given special attention to ensuring good governance in the country. "Good governance also includes living in peace and prosperity. Now, all are living in peace and prosperity."
He, however, urged everyone to remain alert as Bangladesh has enemies.
Representatives from the ministries and departments concerned as well as city corporations were present at the meeting.
It was decided at the meeting that Public Administration Ministry will deploy 154 deputy secretaries or senior assistant secretaries in as many wards of two Dhaka city corporations to monitor the activities of dengue prevention cells.
It asked the two city corporation authorities to strengthen their mosquito-controlling drives to check the dengue menace.
The meeting also directed all government officials to keep their respective offices clean to prevent dengue.
The PMO urged people to keep their residences and surroundings clean by removing stagnant clean water from different pots, particularly flower bases, air conditioner machines and refrigerators.
It stressed the need for conducting campaigns through newspapers and TV channels to make people aware about dengue and various types of rumour.
The meeting also praised the role of state-run Bangladesh Television in this connection.
The meeting stressed the need for taking various effective measurers to make the journey of holidaymakers on rail, road, water and airways smooth during upcoming Eid-ul-Azha.
Principal Coordinator on SDG Affairs at the PMO Md Abul Kalam Azad and secretaries concerned and representatives of different government organisations also spoke at the meeting.
