Prime Minister's ICT Affairs Adviser Sajeeb Wazed Joy has won the "ASOCIO Leadership Award 2021" for his contribution to Bangladesh's ICT sector.
On behalf of Joy, State Minister for ICT Zunaid Ahmed Palak received the award Friday on the second day of the World Congress on Information and Technology 2021 (WCIT 2021) in the capital.
The Asian-Oceanian Computing Industry Organisation (ASOCIO), a grouping of ICT industry associations representing the Asian-Oceania, conferred the award on the prime minister's ICT affairs adviser.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina won the award in 2010, former Thai prime minister Thaksin Shinawatra in 2004, and former Malaysian prime minister Tun Dr Mahathir bin Mohamad in 1997.
Bangladesh's Abdullah H Kafi, who headed ASOCIO during 2013-14, announced Joy as the winner at ASOCIO Award Night of the ongoing WCIT.
Bunrak Saraggananda, a former chairman of ASOCIO, handed over the award on behalf of the organisation's current Chair David Wong Nan Fay.
Also, Computer Services Limited, Bangladesh Computer Council, Development of National ICT Infra Network for Bangladesh, Boighar and Jatiya Shasthaya Batayan received ASOCIO awards in different categories this year.
The other organisations that won the awards were from Malaysia, Nepal, Thailand, Japan, Korea, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Taiwan and Vietnam.
