Dhaka, July 7 (UNB) – Detectives in a drive in Cumilla on Sunday arrested the prime suspect in the killing of six-year-old girl Samia Afrin Sayma after rape in Dhaka’s Wari area.
They arrested Harun-Or-Rashid, a painter by profession, from Darbardanga area in Titas upazila in Cumilla district.
Harun used to live in the same building where the victim’s family resides.
Tipped off, a team of DB east division conducted a drive in the area and arrested Harun around 11:30 am, said Abdul Baten, Additional Commissioner of DB.
Earlier, Samia Afrin Sayma, daughter of Abdus Salam, was found dead at a nine-storey building of Wari on Friday night.
Later, victim’s father filed a case with Wari Police Station.
After conducting a postmortem, Dr Sohel Mahmud, head of Dhaka Medical College Hospital’s Forensic Medicine Department, said, the girl was murdered after rape as they found the evidence of rape on the victim’s body.
