A two-day programme on the theme ‘The Greatest Hero of the Glorious Victory’ will begin on December 16 to mark the Victory Day in the birth centenary of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
The National Implementation Committee for the celebration of the birth centenary of Father of the Nation has taken up the programme in celebration of the golden jubilee of Bangladesh’s glorious victory in the nine-month War of Liberation against Pakistan in 1971.
Chief Co-coordinator of the National Implementation Committee Kamal Abdul Naser Chowdhury detailed the programme at a press briefing at the conference room of the International Mother Language Institute.
He said that President Abdul Hamid will join the programme as the chief guest while Indian President Ram Nath Kovind will be present as the guest of honour at the programme of the South Plaza of Bangladesh National Parliament on December 16.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will preside over the ceremony, where she will conduct an oath on these twin national events.
Sheikh Rehana, the younger daughter of Bangabandhu, will present ‘The Eternal Mujib’ memento to Kovind.
A commemorative volume on Father of the Nation will be unveiled during the programme.
Speaker Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury and Liberation War Affairs Minister AKM Mozammel Huq will speak at the event.
On December 17, a special cultural programme will be held in presence of the prime minister and other other dignitaries at the same venue.
Guests will be required to take Covid tests to attend the events.
