State-owned Trading Corporation of Bangladesh (TCB) sold a total of 1,731 metric tonnes of essential commodities at subsidized prices across the country on Tuesday as part of its steps taken to keep the prices stable during Ramadan.
The essentials goods were sold through 503 trucks at divisional, district and upazila levels throughout the country.
The sold items were 727.26 metric tonnes of soybean oil, 510 metric tonnes of sugar, 100.6 metric tonnes of red lentils, 326.95 metric tonnes of grams, 30.18 metric tonnes of dates and 37 metric tonnes of onions.
The essential commodities are being sold through some 3,000 dealers. More than two lakh people bought the goods at affordable prices on Tuesday, said a PID handout.
