Trading Corporation of Bangladesh (TCB), the state trading agency, will procure 8.0 million liters of soybean oil from Super Oil Refinery Ltd at a cost of Tk 127.96 crore for the fiscal year 2023-2024 for its Open Market Sale programme.
Each litre will cost Tk 159.95 while the previous rate was Tk 159.45 during the last similar purchase.
Cabinet Committee on Government Purchase (CCGP) in a meeting, with Finance Minister AHM Mustafa Kamal in the chair, approved a proposal in this regard.

The Ministry of Commerce placed the proposal on behalf of its subordinate body. The TCB selected the firm through an open tendering method.
The Cabinet body also approved some six more proposals placed by different ministries.
As per the proposals, the National Curriculum and Textbook Board (NCTB) under the Ministry of Primary and Mass Education will award contracts to different suppliers for printing, binding and supplying of 3.53 crore books at a cost of Tk 94.28 crore for primary students.

The NCTB will also award contracts for printing, binding and supply of 4.45 crore books at a cost of Tk 180.02 crore for the students of secondary and higher secondary levels.
The committee approved a cost extension of the Railway Ministry for its project "Construction of Gundum Single Line Dual Gauge Track from Dohazari to Ramu via Cox's Bazar and from Ramu to near Myanmar"
As per the proposal, Bangladesh Railway will pay an additional amount of Tk 87.92 lakh to an NGO for a rehabilitation programme.
This will be the second time cost extension for the project.
The Cabinet body approved a proposal of the Roads and Highways Department to award a Tk 114.34 crore contract to Joint Venture of Ohiduzzaman Chowdhury and Janmabumi Nirmata for Reconstruction of Dirai Shalla section of Madanpur-Dirai-Shalla-Jalsukha-Ajmiriganj District Highway under the Project Package No-WP-02.
The same firm received approval for awarding contract by the Roads and Highways Department for Project Package No.-WP-03 for Reconstruction of Dirai Shalla section of Madanpur-Dirai-Shalla-Jalsukha-Ajmiriganj District Highway at a cost of Tk 147.44 crore.
The contract-award for the Project Package No.- WP-04 of the Reconstruction of Dirai Shalla section of Madanpur-Dirai-Shalla-Jalsukha-Ajmiriganj District Highway was also approved by the committee to give the same firm at Tk 173.83 crore
