Miscreants set three vehicles on fire in Chattogram and in Joypurhat and in Cumilla on Saturday ahead of the 48-hour hartal the BNP and like-minded called.
In Chattogram, a bus was set on fire in the Bohaddarhat area on Saturday.
The incident happened in front of the A Block of Chandgaon Residential Area of Chandgaon Police Station around 9:00 pm on Saturday.
Two units of the fire service went to the spot and brought the fire under control.
Chandgaon Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Zahidul Kabir confirmed the matter.
Senior Officer of Kalurghat Fire Station, Bahar Uddin, said, "We received information about the fire at 9:07 pm. Two units then went and doused the fire.”
In Joypurhat, a covered van was set on fire in the Battali area of the Sadar upazila around 9:45 pm on Saturday.
Two units from the Joypurhat Fire Station went to the spot at 9:57 pm, said Talha bin Zasim, station officer of the Fire Service Headquarters (media cell).
The firefighters were working to douse the fire at the time of filing this report.
