Two cousins drowned while taking bath in a pond of Ramkhand village in Sadar upazila on Sunday.
The deceased were identified as Monira, 11, daughter of Murad Molla, and her cousin Khadiza, 7, daughter of Jakir Molla of the village.
Fakir Molla, chairman of Kanaipur union parishad, said the duo went to the pond in the neighborhood for taking bath around 1pm and met their watery burial there.
Later, their bodies were found floating in the water body, he said.
