Two people, including an auto-rickshaw driver, died in separate road accidents at the Hemayetpur and Aminbazar sections of the Dhaka-Aricha highway in Savar.
One of the incidents happened in the Aminbazar Salehpur Bridge area early Wednesday, and the other happened in front of Jamal Clinic in Hemayetpur in the morning. Savar Highway Police Station Sub-Inspector (SI) Moazzem Hossain confirmed the matter.

One of the deceased was identified as Mamun Sheikh of Mansurapur village in Chatmohar upazila of Pabna. He was an autorickshaw driver by profession. The other deceased was a mentally unstable person whose identity is yet to be confirmed.
Mamun was run over by a vehicle on the Aricha-bound lane of the Aminbazar Bhanga Bridge area around 12:00 am. He was killed on the spot. On the other hand, the mentally unstable person died in front of Jamal Clinic in Hemayetpur on the same highway at around 5 am after being hit by another vehicle in the Aricha-bound lane, said police.

Sheikh Abu Hasan, officer-in-charge of Savar Highway Police Station, said, "The bodies of the deceased were brought to the police station. Meanwhile, the body of the auto-rickshaw driver has been handed over to the family. PBI has been asked to ascertain the identity of the mentally unstable person. Efforts are on to identify the vehicles involved in the incident."

"Besides, an auto-rickshaw driver named Sunil Chandra Das was seriously injured when a private car hit him in the Palli Bidyut area of the Nabinagar-Chandra highway and was admitted to Habib Hospital. The private car and the auto-rickshaw involved in the incident have been brought to the police station," he also said.
