Two gatemen have been suspended over the accident that left six people dead after a sand-laden truck was hit by a train in Muhuriganj of Feni on Friday.
The gatemen are Saiful and Md. Rashed Khan.
Besides, an official investigation is going on against them, Riton Chakma, deputy assistant engineer of Railway, said on Sunday afternoon.
Two cases were filed in this incident where the two gatemen were accused, he added.
A six-member investigation committee headed by Anisur Rahman, Divisional Transport Officer (DTO) of Railway, has been formed to find out the cause of the accident.
The other members of the committee are - Chittagong Divisional Engineer of Railway Md. Abdul Hanif, Divisional Mechanical Engineer (Loco) Sajid Hasan Nirjar, Railway Security Force Commandant Rezanur Rahman, Railway Divisional Medical Officer Anwar Hossain and Divisional Telecommunication and Signal Engineer Zaheed Arefin Tanmoy.
Saiful Islam, divisional railway manager (DRM) of the railway department, said that the exact cause behind the accident will be known after investigation.
"It was initially known that the signal bar was not shut at the time of the accident," he added.
A Chittagong-bound mail train hit a sand-laden truck at the crossing adjacent to the Muhuriganj bridge of Feni on the Dhaka-Chittagong railway, leaving six people dead.
