Ekushey Padak winner Ustad Shahadat Hossain Khan died of COVID-19 in a hospital in the capital on Saturday night. He was 61.
Ustad Shahadat’s grandson Md Parvez Rubel confirmed the matter.
The music legend was buried at the Martyr Intellectual Graveyard in Mirpur on Sunday afternoon, he said.
He is survived by his wife and two daughters.
Bangladesh Group Theatre Federation Secretary General Kamal Bayazid expressed deep shock over the death of the renowned musician.
Ustad Shahadat Hossain came from a family of great musicians of the sub-continent.
He was the only son of renowned musician Ustad Abed Hossain Khan.
In 1994, he received the highest State Award of Bangladesh, the 'Ekushey Padak' for his contribution in the field of music.
He also obtained the degree 'Vadya Alankar' in music from Ali Akbar College of Music, California, USA.
