“Recording Nusrat’s statement and sending the video clip to others is a grave offense,” he told reporters at his office. “But the OC did this.”
Feni Madrasa student Nusrat Jahan Rafi was called to Sonagazi Police Station by the then OC Moazzem after she accused her principal Sirajuddoula of sexually harassing her. The OC unlawfully interrogated her and recorded the whole incident on mobile phone.
The clip went was later released on the social media.
Supreme Court lawyer Syeddul Haque Sumon filed the case against Moazzem under the Digital Security Act on May 15. Dhaka Cyber Tribunal ordered the OC’s arrest on May 27 after Police Bureau of Investigation found the allegations against him to be true.
Nusrat was set on fire by people loyal to madrasa teacher Sirajuddoula on April 6. She died four days later.
Attorney General Alam said that Nusrat’s family is requesting to make the OC main accused in the case. “But it’s up to the investigation officer,” he said.
OC Moazzem filed a bail petition with the High Court on Wednesday.
