The Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) saw a record-breaking transaction of Tk 839.7 crore on Tuesday, marking a significant increase as market indices continued their upward trend, spurred by favorable regulatory actions.
Trading data from DSE highlighted that 30.69 crore shares and units changed hands through 237,234 transactions. Tuesday’s turnover of Tk 839.7 crore reflected a sharp rise from Monday's Tk 565 crore and Sunday’s Tk 431 crore, showing a robust surge in investor participation.
A total of 399 companies engaged in trading on Tuesday, with prices rising for 304 of them, while 65 saw a decline, and 30 remained unchanged.
The DSE's main index, DSEX, gained 112.52 points to close at 5,365.01, while the DSES Shariah index increased by 29.18 points, reaching 1,191.57. The DS30 blue-chip index also rose by 30.16 points, ending at 1,967.76.
Meanwhile, the Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) experienced modest growth, with its CASPI index climbing 1.99 points to reach 14,876.54. A total of 238 companies traded on the CSE, with 196 advancing, 27 declining, and 15 remaining unchanged.
The transaction volume at the CSE stood at Tk 5.99 crore on Tuesday, a slight dip from Tk 6.55 crore the previous day. Overall, 30.44 lakh shares and units were traded through 3,442 transactions at the CSE.
