The Awami League has nominated cricketer Shakib Al Hasan for the Magura-1 constituency for the upcoming 12th parliamentary election.
Shakib, the world’s best allrounder in ODI, will contest the parliamentary elections for the first time.

Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader announced the names of the party's nominees for 300 parliamentary seats at the Awami League central office on Bangabandhu Avenue on Sunday.
Earlier, Shakib Al Hasan bought three nomination forms of the ruling Awami League to contest in the 12th parliamentary election.
His relatives collected the nomination forms for Magura-1, Magura-2, and Dhaka-10 from the AL central office at 23 Bangabandhu Avenue in the capital.
