Voting is underway today in 60 upazilas for the fourth phase of the sixth Upazila Parishad Election.
Voting began at 8 am and will continue till 4 pm without any break.
UNB’s Cumilla correspondent reported that voting was underway in a peaceful environment in Chauddagram, Homna and Nangalkot upazilas of the district since this morning.
Though the turnout of voters was thin initially, their presence increased with time.
No untoward incidents centring the election were reported till filing this report around 10:45 am.
A total of 721 candidates are in the electoral race for 180 posts of 60 Upazila Parishad.

They include 251 chairman contenders, 265 vice chairman and 205 women (reserved) vice chairman contestants.
Electronic voting machines are being used at six upazilas while the traditional ballot papers are being used in the rest.
A security team of 17-19 are guarding each polling station in the plain land districts, while a security team of 19-21 are guarding polling stations in the CHT and very remote areas.
