Detective Branch (DB) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) arrested six leaders of Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal (JCD) from Dhaka’s Lalbagh area on Saturday.
Police seized 3 illegal firearms and 36 rounds of bullet from the arrestees, said a press release signed by DMP’s deputy commissioner (media) Faruk Hossain on Sunday.

The arrestees were JCD’s DU unit senior joint secretary Mominul Islam Jishan,, former assistant general secretary of Private University Chhatra Dal Mohammad Arif Billah, vice president of Dhaka University unit Md. Hasanur Rahman , 32,central assistant secretary Shahadat Hossain, 31, Jahangirnagar University unit senior joint secretary Zahir Uddin Babor, joint general secretary of Dhaka University unit Md Abdullah R Riyad.

During the preliminary interrogation, the arrestees said the high command of the BNP and its student wing's units at Dhaka University and other private universities were planning to strengthen the party's movement, according to the press release.

“They were planning to display the illegal firearms and create panic among the public in order to destabilise the country,” reads the press release.
They were sent to court after the arrest.
