Twenty-one leaders from the Sirajganj unit of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL), the student wing of the ruling Awami League, have been suspended from the organisation temporarily for violating its rules and regulations.
A press release, signed by Sirajganj BCL unit President Ahsan Habib Khoka and General Secretary Abdullah Bin Ahmed, confirmed the development on Wednesday night.
The suspended leaders are: Sheikh Zakaria Roni Anando, vice-president of Sirajganj Chhatra League Municipal unit, Joint General Secretary Abdullah Al Hasan Tapu, Member Sayem Hossain Reza, Sirajganj Government College unit Chhatra League Vice-Presidents Sheikh Rimon and Ashraful Islam Quddus, Education and Curriculum Affairs Secretary Yasin Arafat Rukuni, Finance Secretary of Sirajganj Polytechnic Institute unit Chhatra League Khairul Kabir Khan, Purnimaganti Union Chhatra League General Secretary SM Faisal Ahmed and Vice President Atiqur Rahman, Durganagar Union Chhatra League Organizing Secretary Roni Ahmed, Shahjadpur Upazila Chhatra League Organizing Secretary Nahid Hasan, Municipal unit Joint General Secretary Bandhan Islam, Rupbati Union Chhatra League Deputy Publicity Secretary Khalid Hasan, Salanga Thana Chhatra League vice-president Al-Amin, members Rasel Hasan Rasu and Naimul Islam Nayan, Nalka Union Chhatra League President Abdur Rahman, Tarash Upazila Chhatra League assistant-secretary Ariful Islam, student affairs secretary Mujahidul Islam Manik and mass education affairs secretary Sabbir Rahman Rumman and member Aslam Hossain.

According to the press release, the activists were suspended from the student organisation as they were allegedly involved in "anti-organisational activities."
A recommendation has been made to the Central Committee for permanent expulsion, reads the press release.
