Awami League general secretary Obaidul Quader on Friday said BNP is bringing out mourning processions after failing in their efforts to wage a movement.
“After failure in the movement, BNP is holding mourning processions. The party dreams (illusion) sitting idle, spreads panic of sanctions and visa policies,” he said referring to the mass processions brought out with black flags by BNP on Friday in the city.
Obaidul Qauder, also the Road Transport and Bridges Minister, was addressing a peace rally at Bangabandhu Avenue in the capital, which was arranged by AL Dhaka South City Unit to protest the violence, anarchy and anti-state conspiracies of BNP-Jamaat.
The AL leader said if the AL leaders and workers stay united, there is no political force in the country who would be able to defeat the Awami League.
He questioned why BNP is holding a black procession and whether any of their leaders died. Now the BNP leaders are bringing out mourning processions, destroying the movement, he added.
AL presidium member Mostofa Jalal Mohiuddin, its joint general secretary Mahbubul Alam Hanif, organizing secretary SM Kamal Hossain, AL Dhaka South City Unit president Abu Ahmed Mannafi and its general secretary Humayun Kabir, among others, spoke on the occasion.
On Friday, BNP Dhaka South and North City units brought out two separate processions with black flags in the capital’s Nayapaltan and Shyamoli areas respectively to press home their one-point demand which includes the resignation of the AL government and holding the next general election under a non-party caretaker government.
