Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader on Thursday said BNP is making evil attempts to shift the blame to the Awami League government over the incidents of enforced disappearances and killings occurred due to its internal conflicts.
“BNP leaders have continuously been resorting to falsehood about the incidents of disappearances and killings, expecting to get sympathy from foreign friends and their representatives. They are trying to shift blame to the government for the disappearances and killings that occurred as a result of BNP's internal feuds,” he said.

The AL general secretary in a statement condemned and protested the ‘untrue, false and fabricated’ remarks made by BNP leaders.
“The fabricated statements, the BNP leaders have been making for a long time about the disappearance, are devoid of reality,” he said terming the claim as “baseless.”
Quader, also the Road Transport and Bridges Minister, said the AL was initially blamed for the disappearance of Chattogram BNP leader Jamal Uddin, but later it was found that Jamal Uddin was a victim of BNP’s internal conflict.
In the same way, following the disappearance of BNP leader Salahuddin Ahmed ill-attempt was made to blame the government, but it was seen later that the BNP leader was hiding in India, said the AL general secretary.

Even in the case of the disappearance of BNP leader Ilias Ali, a senior leader of BNP said Ilias Ali was forcibly disappeared by BNP men--a fact that came through social media, he said.
“BNP is making false statements about the disappearances and blaming the government to have political advantage on the international stage. But the story behind the drama of their disappearance is not unknown to the people today,” said Quader.
He mentioned various incidents of disappearances and killings that occurred during the regimes of Ziaur Rahman and Khaleda Zia.
“Bangladesh Awami League does not believe in the politics of killings and disappearance. Rather, it is the Awami League which has repeatedly been the cruel victim of killings, coups, disappearance and conspiracies,” he added.
