Police on Wednesday filed two cases accusing 2, 088 leaders and activists of the BNP and its associate bodies over the clashes with law enforcers during a scheduled road march in Feni Sadar on Tuesday afternoon.
Hayat Ullah, sub inspector at Feni town police outpost, lodged the cases naming 88 men including district BNP Convenor Sheikh Farid Bahar and Member Secretary Alal Uddin Alal and 2, 000 unnamed individuals.
Nizam Uddin, officer-in-charge of Feni Model Police Station, said the cases were filed on charges of carrying out attacks on police, vandalising establishments and obstructing them from performing duties.
He said over 2, 000 were implicated in the both cases.

Alal said police and Bangladesh Chhatra League swooped and fired on them during their peaceful programme, and are now sued.
He said the government will no longer be in power by doing so.
On Tuesday afternoon, some 20, 000 BNP leaders and activists led by the convenor and the member secretary brought out a road march in Feni town in line with the central programme in Dhaka.

A clash broke out when the law enforcers and supporters of the BNP and its associate bodies locked into a fierce clash on Trunk Road, leaving around 200 injured.
