Dr Reza Kibria has been removed from the post of convener of Gono Odhikar Parishad.
The decision was taken at a meeting held on Saturday, according to a press release sent by the party.

Reza, the convenor of the party was absent from the meeting he called, even though other members were present amid the shortage of vehicles and adverse circumstances during the Eid holidays. In this situation, based on the opinion of the members present in the meeting, Joint Convener-1 Rashed Khan was elected as the president. Member Secretary Nurul Haque Nur moderated the meeting, it said.

The meeting decided to remove the convener as two-thirds of the members of the central executive council supported the no-confidence motion in the convener.

Besides, considering the emergency situation to resolve the ongoing crisis in the party, the party's higher council and national council will be held on July 10. Rashed Khan has been appointed as acting convener and member secretary Md Nurul Haque (Nur) will perform regular duties as per routine, the release said.
