Mobile financial service provider Nagad has ensured uninterrupted service for its customers during emergency situations in the country.
While most financial services were halted, Nagad remained the only hope. Due to the lack of internet, the app did not work. However, by dialling *167#, millions of customers have availed services like bill payment, mobile recharge, cash-out, and cash-in. As soon as the internet connection was restored, transactions through the app began. Customers started transacting comfortably through the app as well, according to a press release.
The disruption in internet service caused trouble for the general public. Conventional banking services were disrupted, and due to the internet outage, mobile recharge methods were halted. In this situation, Nagad became the only reliance for mobile recharge, bill payment, and cash withdrawal, it said.
Unprecedented scenes were witnessed in neighbourhoods during this time. Long lines were seen in front of Nagad entrepreneur points as people waited for cash-in, cash-out, and bill payments. People recharged their mobiles after cashing in at Nagad.
Even in this adverse situation, Nagad has been able to keep all essential services running through special efforts. Without the app, Nagad's technology team has been working tirelessly day and night to keep all necessary services active through USSD, including bill payment, mobile recharge, and money transfer. Despite the curfew, Nagad's technology team members have worked 24/7, ensuring security, not letting Nagad's services stop for a moment, the release also said.
As a result, during this adverse situation, besides Nagad's three hundred thousand entrepreneur points, millions of customers have availed Nagad's services from four crore accounts in four days, from Saturday to Tuesday, the release also said.
Nagad's founder and CEO, Tanvir A Mishuk, said that it was ensured that there would be no disruption in customer service, even for a minute, during the adverse time. He said, "In such a situation, Nagad prioritised standing by the urgent needs of the customers.
“We ensured that Nagad's services did not stop even for a second because we did not want people to stay in panic. They recharged their phones from Nagad and kept in touch. They made bill payments and kept various essential daily services active. Our employees have worked tirelessly to ensure these services."
