He made the announcement while exchanging onions with athletes and officials of Bangladesh contingent for 13th SA Games at the conference room of National Sports Council.
Russel also announced Tk 3 lakh for each silver medalist and Tk 1 lakh for each bronze medalist.
He also informed that the gold medal winners of the team events will get Tk 1 lakh each, silver medalist will get Tk 50,000 while each bronze medalist will get Tk 30,000 each.
“We’ve decided to encourage our athletes with reward, who will win medals in SA Games in Nepal. We’ll also provide extra financial support to the federations, which will perform better in upcoming Games,” he added.
Bangladeshi athletes secured four gold medals in the last edition of SA Games and the gold medalists were awarded with flat by the Prime Minister, he said adding that “I hope, our athletes will do better this time.”
