The IPCWC is scheduled to take place from July 9 to July 14.

MPs from eight cricket-playing nations – Bangladesh, India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Afghanistan, Australia, South Africa and hosts England – will compete in the tournament being held in parallel to ICC World Cup 2019.

A team of 17 MPs, led by former national cricket team captain Naimur Rahman Durjoy, is scheduled to reach London today.

State Minister for Foreign Affairs M Shahriar Alam, is coordinating with the host Parliament in collaboration with Bangladesh Cricket Board, the Foreign Ministry said here on Sunday.

It is expected that the tournament will help foster friendship among MPs of the participating nations. Bangladesh are looking forward to the main spirit of the tournament and are optimistic about their success.

Bangladesh team met Speaker Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury on the last day of budget session before their departure. A four-member technical team under coach Dipu Roy Chowdhury has been preparing the team.

The participating teams will be divided in two groups and the matches will be played at various venues in London.

Bangladesh have been put in Group-B with Pakistan, South Africa and New Zealand. Group-A consists of India, England, Australia and Sri Lanka.

The teams will face each other in four six-a-side matches on July 9 before the group stage matches begin on July 10.

Two teams will proceed from each group to the semi-finals. In the group stage, the matches will be 15 overs a side and the semi-finals and final will be 20 overs a side.

During the tournament, MPs of participating countries are invited to attend receptions to be hosted respectively by the Speaker of House of Commons John Barcow at his Parliament Residence on Monday, Foreign Secretary Jeremy Hunt at Durbar Court at the British Foreign office on July 9 and Prime Minister Thersea May at the Rose Garden in 10 Downing Street on July 14.
