Bangladesh faced an initial setback, losing their first wicket with no runs on the board, followed by two more wickets for just 23 runs, in their World Cup 2023 showdown against Pakistan on Tuesday in Kolkata.
Tanzid Hasan failed to notch any runs and fell victim to an lbw dismissal in the first over bowled by Shaheen Afridi. Nazmul Hossain Shanto, Bangladesh’s second wicket, also fell prey to Afridi’s relentless bowling.

Though Tanzid contested the decision, the TV replays affirmed that the ball had struck the stumps, confirming his dismissal.
Shanto attempted a square leg clip but was swiftly caught by Usama Mir. The third wicket, Mushfiqur Rahim, was claimed by Haris Rauf, caught behind the stumps.

After losing three crucial wickets, Bangladesh stood at 66 for three at the end of the 14th over, with Litton and Mahmudullah at 30 and 25 not out, respectively.
Earlier, Bangladesh won the toss and elected to bat first. Having lost five out of six matches in the ICC World Cup thus far, Bangladesh made one change in the XI, bringing in Towhid Hridoy to replace Mahedi Hasan.
