The governor of Afghanistan's northern Kunduz province Abdul Jabbar Naemi has called upon the Taliban militants to plant saplings during the seven-day reduction in violence, or partial truce, observed since Feb. 22.
In meeting with a number of elders and chieftains here in the provincial capital the Kunduz city on Friday morning, governor Naemi appreciated the militants over observing the partial truce and called upon them to avail the opportunity and take part in plantation of saplings and greenery in areas under their control.
The seven-day reduction in violence which started on Feb. 22 would be followed by a U.S.-Taliban peace agreement expected on Feb. 29 to end the war in Afghanistan and pave the way for withdrawal of U.S. forces from the country.
