The BRTC bus that killed six people in Bakerganj upazila of Barishal district on Wednesday was racing with another bus, said Rab.
The information was disclosed through a press release of Rab signed by Deputy Director of Rab-8 Major Mohammad Jahangir Alam after the detention of the driver of the BRTC bus.
The press release said on July 20 a battery-run three-wheeler with six passengers was heading towards Bharpara Ruitarpar from Bakerganj upazila.

When it reached near Bakerganj Fire Service and Civil Defense office, the Patuakhali-bound BRTC bus hit it, leaving six people dead.
The BRTC bus was being driven recklessly as the driver of the bus was racing with another bus on the road, it said.
After the accident, driver Md Jahangir Shikder managed to flee.
Earlier, a team Rab-8 on detained driver Jahangir , son of Hamed Shikdar of Gouranadi upazila, from Khilgaon area in Dhaka on Monday night.
The bus driver was handed over to local police, it said.
