Two people were killed and three others injured in a clash over the ownership of a piece of land in Barura upazila of Cumilla district on Friday, said police.
The deceased Abdus Sattar, 62, and his opponent Khorshed Alam, 35, were residents of Jhalgaon village under the upazila.
The injured Md Jahir, Md Joynal and Md Morshed are relatives of the deceased Khorshed.
Md Khaliur Rahman, chairman of Jhalgaon union, said there had long been a dispute between Abdus Sattar and his neighbours Joynal and his brother over the ownership of the land in the village. A case has been underway in this regard.

Joynal, Khorshed, Morshed and Jahir obstructed Sattar from planting paddy in the land when he was working on Friday morning, he said.
At one stage of an altercation, Sattar desperately stabbed the four with a sharp weapon, leaving them critically injured, the UP chairman said.
Khorshed succumbed to his injuries on way to hospital and the rest are undergoing treatment at Cumilla Medical College Hospital, he said.

Hearing the death news, Joynal’s fellows rushed to the house of Sattar and beat him to death, Chairman Khalilur said.
Md Firoz Hossain, officer-in-charge of Barura police station, confirmed the incident saying that the bodies will be sent to the Cumilla Medical College Hospital morgue for autopsy.
Details regarding the incident will be shared later, the OC added.
