Eleven people, including three doctors and several hospital staff, have been sent on home-quarantine after they came in contact with a youth who tested positive for coronavirus in Matlab Uttar upazila.
District Civil Surgeon Dr Shawkat Hossain said the youth, 32, along with his wife was sent to isolation unit of Matlab Uttar Health Complex.
Later, they put the health complex under lockdown, the official said.
With the assistance of police, the youth and his wife were taken to the health complex from his father-in-law’s house.
The youth hailing from Rangpur is a garment worker in the capital. With cold, cough and fever, he came to his father-in-law’s house in the upazila on April 4.
The samples of the youth were sent to IEDCR on April 7 and he was found coronavirus positive on Thursday night.
Meanwhile, samples of 11 more people were sent to the IEDCR on Friday for coronavirus test.
In the district, a total of 594 people are now in home-quarantine.
