Around 300 people, ranging from a child barely a few months old to a 96-year-old, took shelter at the WildTeam Conservation Biology Centre (WCBC) in Bagerhat's Mongla to see out the danger from cyclonic storm Sitrang, that hit Bangladesh this week.
They started leaving after the worst phase of the cyclone had passed early Tuesday, WildTeam said in a statement.
Although Sitrang spared India's West Bengal, Bangladesh was not so lucky. At least 29 people died as the cyclone made landfall in the southern part of the country Monday.
