Seven-year-old Fahim is struggling to find words after a horrific accident claimed the lives of his parents, elder brother, and aunt.

They were on their way to Dhaka for his brother's medical treatment when tragedy struck.

On Thursday, four members of Fahim’s family lost their lives, and 15 others were injured when a gas cylinder in their ambulance exploded after being hit by two buses on the Dhaka-Aricha highway in Savar.

They were father Faruk Hossain Siddique, 50, headmaster of Bhabondatta Government Primary School in Tangail's Ghatail upazila , mother Mahsina Akter, 35, elder brother Mohaimin Islam Fuad, 15, a Class IX student of Bhabondatta High School; and aunt  Mahfuza Akter Shima, 40.

When the UNB correspondent visited the family’s home, a heart-wrenching scene unfolded.

Fahim, Faruk’s youngest son, was inconsolable, his small frame wracked with grief.

Fahim, a madrasa student in Gopalpur upazila, had stayed behind for his studies and was not with his family at the time of the accident.

Relatives said he has been fainting repeatedly overwhelmed by the unbearable loss of his loved ones.

The family had been traveling to Dhaka for Fuad's treatment. The teenager had been battling low hemoglobin levels and needed regular blood transfusions in the capital, relatives shared.

Mohammad Motaleb Hossain, headmaster of Bhabondatta High School, remembered Fuad as a brilliant and promising student, expressing profound sorrow over the family’s tragic demise.
