The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) of Bangladesh on Wednesday decided to investigate the assets of 10 former Members of Parliament (MPs) including former whip Shamsul Haque Chowdhury of the ousted Awami League government.
ACC Spokesperson (deputy director) Aktrarul Islam told UNB that the Commission took the decision today.
The 10 former MPs whose assets are being probed are former whip Shamsul Haque Chowdhury, Aftab Uddin Sarkar, Omar Farooq Chowdhury, Alauddin Ahmed Chowdhury Nasim, Ekramul Karim Chowdhury, Dipankar Talukder, Iftekhar Uddin Talukder, Fahmi Golandaz Babel, Hosne Ara and M. A. Jaher.

According to primary investigation, Shamsul Haque misused his power, taking commission from tenders, recruitment trade, drug traders; engaged in irregularities and corruption; and embezzled money from various development projects.
The Commission has decided to send these complaints to the Director General (Investigation-II) of ACC for investigation.
The anti-corruption agency has also decided to investigate the illegal assets of former MPs mentioned in similar complaints.
