Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has taken widespread security measures for ensuring peaceful celebration of tomorrow's 'Bijoya Dashami' procession of the Hindu community, that brings to a close the celebration of Durga Puja with immersion of the idols in the capital.
Durga Puja, the largest religious festival of the Hindu community began on October 9 formally, and it ends with the 'Bijoya Dashami' procession and immersion of the idols tomorrow (Sunday).
All-out security measures have already been taken by the DMP to make Sunday's event festive and smooth, said Talebur Rahman, Deputy Commissioner (DC-Media) of the DMP on Saturday evening.
Probable route of Bisarjan procession is scheduled to start from Dhakeshwari National Temple to Palashi crossing - Jagannath Hall - Central Shaheed Minar - Doel Chattar - High Court Battala - Sarkari Kormochari Hospital - Police Headquarters - Nagar Bhavan - Golapshah Shrine - Bangabandhu Square - Gulisthan - Nawabpur Level Crossing - Nawabpur Road-Manosi Hall Crossing-Rathkhola Crossing-Raisaheb Bazar Crossing-Shankharibazar-Jagannath University-Sadarghat Bata Crossing-Patuatuli Crossing/Sadarghat Terminal Crossing and ending at Wizeghat.
Traffic police will be deployed along with usual security on the occasion of Vijaya procession and idol worship. Three control rooms have been set up at Dhakeshwari National Temple, Palashi Mor and Bahadur Shah Park area. Three watch towers have been installed at Palashir Mor, Roy Saheb Bazar and Wise Ghat. Besides, dog squads, bomb disposal units, crime scene teams and SWAT teams will be ready round the clock.
