A Russian-flagged vessel, the MV Margaret, arrived at Mongla port in Bagerhat with 482.882 metric tons of machinery for Rooppur Nuclear Power Plant.
The ship arrived at jetty number 8 of the port on Tuesday (July 11) afternoon. The unloading of the ship's cargo started in the evening.

Sadhan Kumar Chakraborty, Khulna manager of Conveyor Shipping Lines, the local shipping agent of the ship, said that all the goods will be unloaded within 48 hours.
The ship left the Port of Novorossiysk in Russia for Mongla on June 6. It is carrying a variety of electrical equipment and machinery for the plant.

Earlier on July 2, the MV Liberty Harvest came to Mongla with cargo for the same power plant directly from Russia.
Before that the MV Anka Sky on May 29, MV Anka San on May 6 and MV Yamal Orlan on April 25 brought cargo directly from Russia.
The United States banned 69 ships belonging to seven Russian companies due to the War in Ukraine.

The ships that are not on the US' sanction list are coming directly to Mongla port with goods from Ruppur from Russia. Ships on the sanctions list, notably the Sparta III last December, had to unload its goods in India from where it was then sent separately to Mongla via India.
