Attending the event as the chief guest, the minister LGRD Minister said arranging markets at ward or union level in wider space instead of selecting one or two places in towns would help stop the spread of coronavirus.
Health guidelines and social distancing rules must be followed at any place where sacrificial animal markets are arranged, he said adding that his Ministry has already arranged the first meeting in this regard.

The LGRD Minister also called on to refrain from arranging sacrificial markets in the identified Covid-19 infection hotspots in the country.
Dhaka North City Corporation Mayor Md Atiqul Islam presided over the online event where Commerce Minister Tipu Munshi, Fisheries and Livestock Minister SM REzaul Karim, Sstate Minister for ICT Zunaid Ahmed Palak among others were present.
This year, health experts expressed fear that Covid-19 infection rate may rise sharply after the Eid-ul-Azha as millions of people get directly engaged in marketing and sacrificing animals.
In order to check the transmission of coronavirus, they suggested the government promote a system where the animals are sold, bought and slaughtered and the meat is distributed under a single system in a particular area like union, village or ward for reducing engagement of the people.
