Border Guard Bangladesh on Saturday handed over an Indian smuggler’s body to Indian Border Security Force (BSF) who jumped off from a boat into the Padma River after arrest.
The man was identified as Bharat Mandal, 33, son of Tarapad Mandal Chakrajapur Pashchim Colony in India’s Murshidabad district.
On October 2, BGB members arrested Bharat from Rajshahi border while he was smuggling in phensedyl from India. He jumped off from the boat into the Padma River in handcuffed condition. Later his body was recovered from the border area, said the BGB sources.
BGB filed a case of unnatural death in this regard after an autopsy.
BGB, Rajshahi marine police and Katakhali station police handed over Bharat’s body to BSF and Indian police near pillar 159/2 of the border around Saturday noon.
Commander of BGB Rajshahi-1, Lieutenant Colonel Sabbir Ahmed said the body was handed over to BSF after completion of all legal procedures the legal procedures.
