The leaders of Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA) paid rich tributes to Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, marking his 48th martyrdom anniversary and the National Mourning Day.
BGMEA President Faruque Hassan along with the BGMEA Board members paid homage to Bangabandhu by placing wreaths at the portrait of the great leader in front of Bangabandhu Memorial Museum at the capital's Dhanmondi on August 15.
BGMEA Vice President Shahidullah Azim, Directors Asif Ibrahim, Tanvir Ahmed, Faisal Samad, and Haroon Ar Rashid were present on the occasion.
The BGMEA leaders showed their deep respect to the memory of the great leader who fought for establishing people's rights and dignity.
Afterwards, they visited the Banani graveyard and offered prayers, seeking forgiveness and peace for Bangabandhu and his family members who were brutally murdered in the dark night of 15 August in 1975.
BGMEA President Faruque Hassan recalled the memories of Bangabandhu, saying he dedicated his life to the cause of Bangladesh and its people.
Bangabandhu is a great leader whose vision and sacrifices inspired the nation to achieve freedom and pursue the dream of a Sonar Bangla, Faruque Hassan observed.
Under the prudent and visionary leadership of Bangabandhu’s daughter Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, Bangladesh has reached a new level of development through achievements in various social and economic indicators, the BGMEA President mentioned.
He expressed firm commitment of the RMG industry to propelling the development of Bangladesh.
