BGMEA President Faruque Hassan called on Salman Fazlur Rahman MP, Private Industry and Investment Advisor to the honorable Prime Minister, in Dhaka on May 31.
BGMEA Director Ahsanul Hoq, Chair of BGMEA Standing Committee on Trade Fair Mohammed Kamal Uddin, Chair of BGMEA Standing Committee on Schedule Bank Md. Israfil Atique and Chair of BGMEA Standing Committee on Challenged Industry Md. Anisur Rahman were also present at the meeting.
They discussed the present business situation of the RMG industry including its prospects and challenges being faced by the RMG industry, particularly the new challenge due to the uncertainty globally stemming from the Russia-Ukraine war.
Faruque Hassan apprised the Private Industry and Investment Advisor of the RMG sector’s vision of achieving 100 billion from RMG exports by 2030 while pursuing the growth in a sustainable manner.
During the meeting, BGMEA President Faruque Hassan stressed the need for the policy support of the government for the RMG industry to help the sector to face the challenges in the coming days and materialize the industry’s vision.
He said the industry is laying importance to shifting towards non-cotton textiles and high value-added apparel items to attain the growth vision.
He also urged the government to further improve ease of doing business and reduce time and cost of doing business to attract more investments in the backward linkage textile sector, particularly in man-made fiber based yarns and technical textiles.
