The Biman Bangladesh Airlines has unveiled plans to introduce state-of-the-art body-worn cameras for its ground handling staff.
The initiative, announced by Biman Managing Director and CEO Shafiul Azim, is expected to address longstanding allegations of pilferage, missing luggage, and passenger harassment at the Dhaka airport.

Speaking to reporters during the "Ground Equipment Showcasing 2024 and New Equipment Commissioning" event at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport (HSIA), Shafiul emphasised the airline's commitment to ensuring world-class ground handling services. The move comes as part of Biman's comprehensive strategy to enhance security and service quality.

The national flag carrier has allocated Tk 1,000 for the procurement of approximately 3,600 advanced pieces of equipment. This substantial investment aims to align ground handling services with the operational demands of the newly constructed third terminal at the airport.
Biman, not only managing its own flights but also providing ground handling services for all international airlines across the country's airports, has an annual turnover ranging from Tk 1,000 to Tk 1,200 crore.

Currently providing ground services for 160 flights daily, Biman anticipates that the new equipment will enable them to seamlessly handle 200 to 240 daily flights by the year 2024.
