"We need particular information about how many engineers, doctors and others are there in the country. If we have no data how we will import vaccines for patients? Or how we will take plan if we do not know that how many people are in Bangladesh? So BDR is a must to get various facilities," he said this at a discussion marking National Birth Registration Day in the city.
He also said that the government is committed to fulfil people's dream. So we have to move forward as per plan. The biographical information is very needed to reach development country status by 2041.
"Besides, we need it to work easily and eliminate corruption too. We have to use technology for this. We could regulate the corruption.”
He thanked UNICEF for financial support for birth and death registration.
"We should plan timely and complete all projects in due time. Otherwise we cannot implement project."
He asked his officials to use machineries properly which are suitable in the country.
"Local member and chairman are more connectivity with villagers. So all union parishad must work for this so that everyone has the registration.
He also asked the officials to use developed server and software so that total biography of a person can be included in the registration.
Earlier in this morning, a rally was brought out marking the day.
The main objective of the day is to highlight the importance of birth registration for every child and adult in the country.
Birth registration, a free service, must be completed within 45 days of birth, but many parents are unaware of the importance.
However, the 16 basic services that can be availed with a birth registration are: Passport, marriage registration, admission to school and colleges, applying for jobs, driving license, over ID, land registration, opening a bank account, import and export license, getting water, gas and electric connections, Tax Identification Number (TIN), contractor license, approval of the home design, vehicle registration, trade license and getting on the voter list.
