Expect some respite from the scorching heat and frustrating humidity, as the weather department has predicted showers across the country in 24 hours.
“Light to moderate rains or thunder showers accompanied by temporary gusty winds and lightning flashes are likely to occur at many places over Rangpur division and at a few places over Rajshahi, Mymensingh, Dhaka, Khulna, Barisal, Chattogram and Sylhet divisions with moderately heavy falls at places over the country," Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) said in its forecast on Tuesday.
The Met office recorded the highest 40mm of rainfall in Dhaka's Nikli in 24 hours till 6am on Tuesday.
The mercury reached 36.4 degrees Celsius – the highest – in Rajshahi, while the minimum temperature was recorded at 23.8 degrees in Cumilla.
Day and night temperatures may remain nearly unchanged over the country, as per the bulletin.
Meanwhile, the axis of the monsoon trough runs through Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, West Bengal to Assam across the central part of Bangladesh.
Monsoon is fairly active over Bangladesh and moderate elsewhere over North Bay.
