The promise came during a flag meeting with Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) at Padma Char in Sonikandi BOP in Poba upazila of Rajshahi.
According to BGB, the top officials of 35 battalion led by DIG Kunal Majumder of BSF's Baharampur sector were present at the meeting while Commander of BGB Rajshahi sector Colonel Tuhin Masud led the BGB side.
During the meeting, BGB protested against the killing of Bangladeshis by BSF in Rajshahi area.
Colonel Masud said BGB presented two important issues at the meeting – border killing and BSF’s infiltration and capturing of Bangladeshis.
BSF was informed that at least nine Bangladeshis were killed in the Chapainawabganj and Naogaon borders in one month.
BGB requested to handover anyone who enters Indian territory in future through flag meetings. BGB also informed their Indian counterpart about the arrest of five fishermen from Padma in Sonikandi BOP area of Poba Upazila.
Colonel Masud said, “The BSF had complained in response to two issues. Expressing regret over the border killings, BSF said cattle smugglers enter India ignoring BSF barriers and many times smugglers also attack and then they (BSF) are forced to shoot.”
The BGB official said BSF had promised to ensure co-operation at the border after the meeting.
