Train movement from Chattogram and Sylhet (up line) to Dhaka remained suspended since Thursday afternoon as a container train derailed in Sadar upazila of Brahmanbaria on Thursday.
Md Rafiqul Islam, acting master of Brahmanbaria Railway Station, said seven bogies of the container train veered of the tracks in Dariyarpur area while heading towards the capital from Chattogram due to severe heat around 12:50pm.
The train movement from Dhaka with Chattogram and Sylhet remained snapped since the incident, he said, adding that the train movement from Dhaka to Chattogram and Sylhet also remained normal.
A salvage train from Akhaura arrived at the sport around 5pm but the rescue operation is yet to start, he added.
