Army personnel have started distributing the food items under the government’s relief programme for those who became unemployed amid lockdown, in different parts of Keraniganj, on the outskirts of the capital.
The Army personnel conducted a door-to-door service around 10 am on Sunday morning after receiving allegations that the distribution of relief was not going without irregularities.
The items are meant to be distributed among five lakh people, including day-labourers and people from other professions in the area, living in Jinjira, Aganagar, Shubhyadda, Kalindi, Shakta and Kalindi.
Amit Deb Nath, Upazila Nirbahi Officer, said “The distribution of relief materials will continue with the continuation of lockdown.”
The local administration also made relief cards using data on National Identity Card and mobile phone numbers, he said.
