The BGB DG gave the directives while visiting remote Char Chilmari Border Outpost (BOP) of Kushtia district on Monday.
During his visit, the DG BGB talked with BGB members of the outpost in a cordial environment and also inquired about their well-being, said BGB headquarter Public Relation Officer (PRO) Mohsin Reza as quoted the DG .
Later, the DG BGB visited another nearby remote border outpost known as Udoynagar BOP in the Kushtia district. The DG BGB also talked with the BGB members there.
Major General Shaheenul Islam is the first DG BGB , who visited neighboring remote Char Chilmari and Udoynagar BOPs.
The DG BGB also visited Bajitpur BOP in Meherpur district also urged the BGB members to work with sincerity, patriotism, discipline, honesty and devotion.
As the BGB members informed the DG about various issues, he said, “Not only face to face, if necessary you can contact me directly over phone.”
It is to be noted that the BGB has been performing their duties as a vigil in guard round the clock on 4,427 km long frontiers to protect the country's borders and sovereignty.
Due to the geographical location characteristics of these long border areas, many border areas are extremely remote. There are many remote areas on both hilly and plane areas where there is no road to travel, and there is no road to walk on foot.
BGB has many BOPs where food and ration items cannot be reached without helicopters. There are also many BOPs where there is no provision for helicopter landing. Due to lack of proper communication, food and ration items have to reach in many BOPs after several weeks in alternate ways.
After joining as the DG, Major General Md. Safinul Islam has given top priority for development of remote borders and border management. As part of it, the DG BGB visited Kushtia's Charchilmari, Udaynagar and Bajitpur BOP of Meherpur.
