However, the hospital employees and Ansar members could douse the flames before the firefighters rushed to the spot.
Sources at the Fire Service and Civil Defence headquarters said the fire originated at around 1:45pm.

Although three units of fire service rushed to the spot as soon as they could, employees and Ansar members of DMCH had doused the fire before they arrived.
Fire Service and Civil Defence Assistant Director Md Saleh Uddin said, “There was not a big fire, nor was it a dangerous one. However, smoke originating from fires filled the whole area. Trash fires could have led to the incident.”
Moushumi Khatun, a staff nurse of the hospital, told reporters that there were 18 patients in the ICU but no one got injured.

DMCH Director Brigadier General Md Nazmul Hoque said, “A nine-member committee has been formed comprising members of fire service, engineering department and DMCH officials. The committee has been asked to submit a report within the next five working days.”
