Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Commissioner Habibur Rahman has instructed police officers to prioritize the prevention of theft, in addition to maintaining law and order and ensuring citizen services for city dwellers.
Speaking at the crime review meeting for May and June, held at the Bangladesh Police Auditorium in Rajarbagh on Thursday, the DMP chief emphasized the need for coordination among night watchmen, Ansar members, and the police to prevent theft.

The area's night watchmen and Ansar members, who are responsible for the security of various institutions, should work in coordination to prevent theft, he said.
The Commissioner underscored the importance of night patrols, instructing officers to ensure the safety of night watchmen and to thoroughly investigate all theft incidents, bringing the real criminals to justice. He also advised homeowners to keep their CCTV cameras active.
He highlighted the need for meticulous investigation in drug recovery cases. From the seizure list to the filing of the charge sheet, everything must be done in accordance with the law to ensure the punishment of the accused through the judicial process, he added.

During the monthly crime review meeting, he also gave directions to increase the warrant disposal rate, expedite case resolutions, and swiftly handle non-capital cases.
The DMP Commissioner expressed gratitude to the traffic and crime departments of the DMP for their continuous efforts in maintaining law and order and ensuring the safety of Dhaka's residents.
In recognition of their good work in maintaining law and order and public safety, Commissioner Rahman awarded various levels of DMP policemen during the crime review meeting.

The meeting presented the overall crime situation in May and June, covering incidents such as robbery, theft, burglary, murder, road accidents, violence against women and children, rape, drug-related offenses, and the recovery of illegal weapons.
Senior officers from DMP headquarters and various ranks attended the meeting.
