It was revealed when Mayor Atiqul Islam unveiled the city corporation’s budget at DNCC Nagar Bhaban in Gulshan on Thursday.
This is the first time he has announced the budget after taking charges as the mayor.
DNCC and the Dhaka South City Corporation faced severe criticism for their failure to prevent a massive outbreak of mosquito-borne disease dengue which has so far claimed 57 lives, according to official data.
Altogether, 73,565 people were hospitalised with dengue since January 1. Of them, 69,785 made full recovery.
In the Tk 3,057.24 crore proposed budget, the DNCC fixed a revenue income of Tk 1,106 crore and revenue expenditure of Tk 551.4 crore.
Income from government backed and foreign-aided projects are expected to be Tk 1564 crore while DNCC expects Tk 100 crore as allotment from government.
Development expenditure and other expenses are Tk 2,335.74 crore and Tk 12 crore respectively.
The development expenditure includes Tk 363 crore for maintaining and developing roads and traffic infrastructures; Tk 7.25 crore for graveyard and cremation ground renovation and development; Tk 4 crore for maintaining and developing parks and fields; Tk 76.85 crore for building and maintaining infrastructures and Tk 23.35 crore for environmental development.
