Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) on Saturday found Aedes mosquito larvae in 18 buildings, including one of Asia Hospital and Diagnostic Center, Mugda Ideal School, and real estate developer Decent and ASKAN housing during a drive.
After visiting 671 establishments and under-construction buildings, 7 DSCC mobile court teams imposed fines totaling Tk 4,29,000 in 18 cases after finding a favorable environment for Aedes mosquito breeding in them.

The drive was led by DSCC Executive Magistrate Mahfuzul Alam Masum, Md Alamgir Hossain, Bikash Biswas, Shahin Reza, Hasnat Murshed Bhuiyan, Kazi Hafizull Amin and Merina Naznin in city’s Ramna, Dhanmondi, Mugda, North and South Saydabad, Jatrabari park, North Jatrabari, Mir Hazaribagh, Kalabagan, Segunbagicha, Dogair, Mahmudnagar and Signboard areas
Executive Magistrate of zone-5 Md Hasnat Murshed Bhuiyan said, in today’s drive Asian Hospital and Diagnostic Center was fined Tk 90,000 and Decent and ASKAN housing were fined Tk 50,000 each for having large amount of Aedes larvae in their buildings and under-construction buildings in North Jatrabari.

Chief Property Officer Russel Sabrin said, “Combing drive to destroy larvae will be conducted from Sunday in two buildings in Banasree area fined with 50,000 each during the drive for habituating Aedes mosquito larvae in their roof and basement.”
Owners of 23 other buildings were warned for having Aedes larvae in them and were destroyed, said the officials.
