The Editors' Council on Monday expressed deep shock and sorrow at the death of daily Janakantha Editor Atikullah Khan Masud.
In a condolence message, the Council said the country has lost a noted editor and a person of non-communal spirit with the death of Atikullah Khan Masud.
As a freedom fighter, it said, Atiqullah Khan Masud made Janakantha a strong force in favour of the pro-Liberation War forces.
The Council conveyed its profound sympathy to the bereaved family members of Atiqullah Khan Masud and the Janakantha family, and prayed for the salvation of the departed soul.
The Janakantha editor died of cardiac arrest at a city hospital in the city early Monday. He was 71.
Atikullah Khan, also Chairman of the Globe Janakantha Shilpa Paribar, left behind wife, two sons, two grandchildren and a host of relatives to mourn his death.
